Music Monday - Nightwave
UK based Slovenian Nightwave, formerly known as 8Bitch is someone that many of you may already know by now and if you don't you are sure to find out this year. A close friend of the Glasgow based Lucky Me collective, Nightwave makes electronic music, DJ's and is also a vocalist (she recently collaborated with her boyfriend Rustie on his album track Surf). A real multi talented individual she has also done some acting in her time including parts in UK Police drama The Bill. She is also a Judo champion!
With a few releases under her belt on the likes of labels such as Svetlana Industries and Unknown to the Unknown which has helped put her on the radar in the dance music scene. But more recently it's her DJ'ing that she has been gaining attention, her very eclectic tastes and talent are obvious in her sets as she plays whatever she wants, bouncing between techno, classic chouse, grime, r n b, juke, hip hop and everything inbetween.
Her talent has resulted in her being selected as a participant in the world famous Red Bull Music Academy where she will have been given the best opportunity and teaching to hone her art. If her RBMA set at the Sonardome during the Sonar festival in Barcelona a few weeks ago is anything to go by she has really stepped her game up with a set that blew Sonar away.

Summer Festivals
As the sun has decided to come out for a bit over here in Scotland it has really started getting us hyped about the up and coming summer festival season. It's only about two weeks till Scotland plays host to it's first festival Rockness! This being the case we thought we would look into a few other festivals held further afield that we are pretty hyped about.
1. Sonar - Barcelona 14th, 15th and 16th June - Since 1994 Sonar has been celebrating advanced music and media throughout various venues in Barcelona. It is a real pioneering festival with an artistic programme that is divided between activities at Sonar by Day which showcases new talent and live shows and Sonar by Night which presents the headline artists. Sonar by Day is held right in the centre of Barcelona while Sonar by Night is held on the outskirts in a massive airport hangover. Having been there myself I can confidently say it was one of the best festival experiences of my life, and its full of Glaswegians. This year some of the acts include New Order, Richie Hawtin, James Murphy plus many many more. During Sonar Barcelona is party central with different parties put on all over the place such as the Mobilee rooftop -
2. Bloc - London 6th and 7th July - Now in its sixth year, Bloc a festival with a dedication to electronic music will be held in a new venue at London Pleasure Gardens. It was originally held at Butlin's Holiday resort in Minehead. This years festival looks bigger than ever as they are also using the MS Stubniz as a venue. The Motor Ship Stubniz is a deep sea fishing vessel that belonged to the German Democratic Republic before the collapse of communism. It was been transformed by a group of forward thinking artists into a moving platform for the sonic and visual arts, perfect for Bloc. The line up includes Snoop Doff, Gary Numan, Villalobos plus many more.
3. Dimensions - Croatia 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th September - Dimensions is a brand new festival created by the same team behind Croatia's Outlook festival. It is an underground music festival held in the iconic Fort Punta Christo, it also boasts boat and beach parties. In the beautiful surroundings of Croatia this looks to be something very special indeed. The line up includes Carl Craig, Little Dragon, Moodymann plus lots more.
